PRODUCERS
An agricultural producer is a farmer or rancher, who is engaged in the business of using the land to produce crops, or breed and raise livestock through day-to-day labor and field operations. Generally, producers under the AgroLegacy program are those who participate in the risks of production. Each of them is deeply committed to the lands they farm and the animals they care for.

We operate a small-scale commercial maple sugaring operation just outside the town of Waymart. Each spring we tap several thousand sugar maple trees, using the latest technology to collect the sap to produce hundreds of gallons of Pure Pennsylvania Maple Syrup during the short 4 to 6 week maple season. We still hang about fifty buckets each spring to preserve the old-fashioned methods of sugaring passed down through the generationsalong with a w ealth of knowledge and experience. Our roots in sugaring date back to the late 1700s, when Samuel Preston made maple sugar in the Union Sugar Camp in northern Wayne County.
